Alejandra Mendoza, Entering Class of 2007
Undergraduate Institution: University of Miami
Fellowship: Training Program in Developmental Genetics
Laboratory: Dr. Susan Schwab
Project: "Sphingosine-1-phosphate export and distribution." My project focuses on understanding how the lipid Sphingosine-1-phosphate is secreted and the role its export plays in promoting immune cell migration and survival.
Student Perspective: In my experience NYU is a great place for attending graduate school. It has it all: great science, enthusiastic people and an amazing city! The environment at NYU, specially in Skirball, is incredible. Our community is close enough that you have a sense of what everybody works on, and diverse enough to foster collaborations that lead to exciting science.
