Structure & Mechanism of Membrane Proteins

Our laboratory aims to understand the molecular mechanisms of membrane transport by structural biology approaches. In 2003 we determined the 3.3 Å structure of the glycerol-3-phosphate transporter from the E. coli inner membrane, a member of the major facilitator superfamily, which is the largest secondary memrbane transporter family with ~80,000 identified members.
