Calendar

Total Internal Reflectance Microscopy provides exceptional Z axis resolution (100-200 nm) immediately at the substrate.  The image at the right shows a comparison of f-actin staining in an adherent fixed cancer cell line by epi-fluorescence at the left and TIRF on the right.  TIRF provides much higher contrast and Z axis resolution within the bottom 150 nm or so from the glass coverslip substrate.
